Adams Furniture History

Posted onCategoriesHistory

Did you know that Adams Furniture has been in business since the 1970’s? In the early 1970s, Steve Copsey began buying antiques at the major auction houses in London, England. At one of his first auctions, Steve was a successful bidder and the auctioneer banged his gavel and said, “Sold to Mr.Adams!”. Because the name “Adams” is synonymous with fine furniture and it came near the top of any alphabetical listing, Steve adopted “Adams” as his trading name and shortly after, opened Adams Antiques in Chalk Farm Road, London.

Over the years, we have exported containers of antiques and reproductions to the USA and had stores in Boston and San Francisco. In 1998, Adams Furniture USA Inc was formed in High Point NC – which for decades has been known as the “Furniture Capital of The World” – and we continued to import high quality antique and reproduction furniture for sale to wholesalers and designers.

Over the last 5 years, we have concentrated on trading in antique, vintage and reproduction rustic furniture and have gone full circle back to our roots. All of our reproductions are made here in the USA and “custom” is our second name. Customization is available on all of our tables and customers can choose sizes, selection of timbers and hand painted distressed finishes. Our range of upholstered headboards, dining chairs and occasional chairs can also be ordered in different choices of fabric, COM and customized frame finishes.

Our antique and vintage reproductions give any designer or customer an unbeatable variety and selection to suit any home.

Here are some photos from our past ranges, many of which influence the designs we produce today. These items are no longer available and are just to show our history of design and manufacturing.
